Kitchen Reimagined

This kitchen renovation was driven by the homeowners’ desire for a more connected and functional living space. The original layout created congestion and poor workflow, making everyday tasks like meal preparation and family gatherings difficult. Outdated cabinetry, flooring, and finishes also felt disconnected from the quality and character found throughout the rest of the home.

Working closely with the client during the design phase, we developed a thoughtful plan to improve both the function and overall feel of the space. The new layout creates a stronger sense of cohesiveness while significantly improving circulation and usability. By removing several walls and coordinating updates to the plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, we were able to create an integrated kitchen space with vastly improved workflow.

A large island with seating for four now serves as an informal dining and gathering space for the family. Because the rear entry door functions as the home’s primary entrance, the renovation also incorporated mudroom-inspired storage, including a custom built-in bench to help organize coats, shoes, and other everyday items.

Careful attention was paid to materials and finish selections throughout the project. New cabinetry, quartz countertops, a custom tile backsplash, and detailed finish carpentry create a timeless look that feels consistent with the rest of the home. The original tile flooring was replaced with solid hardwood flooring, and the surrounding first-floor wood floors were refinished to create a seamless transition between spaces.

The new space balances improved organization, thoughtful design, and lasting craftsmanship. The result is a warm, functional kitchen designed around the way the family lives.
